On July 30th ,the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) led by the Tiger Forces with the support of local tribal groups, continued it's advance against the Islamic state (ISIS), taking control of Ar-Rahbi, Al-Jabali and Ghanim Al Ali located directly on the Euphrates river despite suffering heavy losses.
The Syrian Army have reached the administrative borders of Deir l Zor and are now eyeing the city of Maadan, the last major settlement ISIS still controls in Al Raqqa countryside. Despite ISIS being more and more on the backfoot after losing several strategic sites, such as Resafa and Maskaneh and on the verge of losing the imperative city of Al Sukhna south of Raqqa, it still continues to show stiff resistance by launching several suicide attacks against the advancing army, which took the lives of several soldiers today, as well as multiple hit and run attacks across the administrative border between Homs And Raqqa.
The SAA will likely continue it's advance along the river in an effort to reach Deir ez-Zor city, which is now 50 Km's away from their position. This push will also coincide with another offensive from Al Sukhna in the Homs countryside, which aims to break the long standing siege by ISIS on the city.
